Beard itch is the number one reason men give up on growing one — usually right before it would have looked good. Here’s what’s going on, and the three-step fix.

Why it itches

Two reasons. Early (weeks 1–3), freshly cut hairs have sharp tips that scratch as they grow back. Later, it’s dry skin: the beard traps it, you stop exfoliating, it flakes and itches. Both are fixable.

The fix

1. Wash it properly — not with hand soap or hair shampoo, both strip it raw. A dedicated Beard Shampoo cleans without stripping.

2. Moisturise the skin — the big one. Beard Oil worked down to the skin (not just over the hair) rehydrates it and stops the itch within a week.

3. Be patient through week three — the sharp-tip itch passes. Keep oiling daily.

The full sequence is in the daily beard routine.
